Why UVXY Pre-March 2018 Normalization Matters:
Before March 2018, UVXY tracked VIX short-term futures at 2x leverage. After March 2018, ProShares changed it to 1.5x leverage. Every raw historical price data you find online reflects the old 2x multiplier, which means:
Pre-2018 daily moves are ~33% larger than they would be under the current 1.5x structure
Without normalization, every tool overstates pre-2018 volatility: Spike counts are inflated, streak records are skewed, decay projections are too aggressive, and seasonality patterns are distorted.
